Flash Flood

There was a flash flood in St. Paul, Minnesota. Many residents were evacuated. Some people refused. For others it was unnecessary beacause there were not enough lifeboats. "I'll do all I can to evacuate me and my family." said Amanda Wilburs, a survivor of the flood.

Most of the residents were only allowed to bring an emergency supply kit and 1 backpack per person. One out of every 3 people could not bring a first aid kit. Most of the people who couldn't bring first aid kits were young children.

Over 25 people drowned and 100 were injured. That kept rescue workers busy. It took a full 6 hours to find the injured and 12 hours to treat them well enough to be evacuated. "We have no time to waste." said a rescue worker.
